Junior Carpenter
Today's Snack: Set some mini-cubes of cheese out on the
counter for a little while to soften them. Then your child can pretend to
"hammer" pretzel sticks into them, and then enjoy eating them.

Golf tees
Toy hammer
Large piece of Styrofoam
Kids just
love to hammer things, but your hammer is no doubt too heavy, and real nails
are scary and too sharp.
Therefore,
since most households have a plastic hammer around and golf tees aren't too
sharp, give these "tools" to your child to hammer golf tees into foam. Your
child might want to make a design, or just hammer for the sake of hammering.
It's a good eye-hand coordination exercise and doesn't make a mess . . . if
your nerves can stand the noise, and it's not as bad as the real thing!
