Grocery Sack Ghost
Today's Snack: Let's
make Ghost Sticks! Melt white chocolate in a bowl in the microwave, or in the
top of a double boiler. Let cool. Take pretzel sticks - large ones if you can
find them - and dip them at least halfway into the melted white chocolate. To
let them dry, prop them upright in cups that contain coffee beans, rice or
other supports. But quickly, while the chocolate is still soft, place two
chocolate sprinkles for eyes and a mini chocolate chip for a mouth. If you'd
rather use black gel icing for the eyes and mouth, that works, too. Boo-tiful,
and yummy fun!

Supplies:
Cool Whip lid or other similar sheer
white lid
3 black construction paper circles
for eyes and mouth
2 sheer white plastic grocery sacks
2 white pipe cleaners (chenille
stem)
Scotch tape
Glue stick
Black yarn
Hole punch
Here's a Halloween decoration out of recyclables that is so
cheap to make, you can create an entire "town" of them and hang them from your
front porch on Halloween night!
First, glue eyes and mouth on front of lid.
Cut off any writing or graphics, and handles, from grocery
sacks. Lay the sacks on a flat surface.
With scissors, shred 2" strips up sacks, leaving at
least 1" area intact next to the seam.
Glue the pipe cleaner/chenille stem into the seam.
Turn lid over on flat surface. Bend and insert the pipe
cleaner/seam into the ridge around the bottom half of the lid. Tape to secure
in place.
Repeat with the second sack and stem, and insert in the
ridge around the upper half of the lid.
Punch a hole through top of the lid. Thread a length of yarn
through the hole appropriate for hanging.
Some kids like having a loop on the end of an 18" length of
yarn so they could hold on and run with their "ghost." They "fly"
nicely and appear as though the kids are being "chased" by a little
ghost!
