Pea-Mutt Butter Dog Treats

Today's snack: This is a test of just how much you really do love your dog. Why don't YOU eat one of these treats? After all, everything in them is OK for a human to eat. Put your arm around your dog, and enjoy your treats together. Then have a good scratch, and a nice, loud howl!

--------------------

Here's somethin' lovin' for your four-legged friends.

Preheat the oven to 250 degrees. Mix in a bowl with a spoon:

            2 tablespoons corn oil

            ½ cup peanut butter

            1 cup water

            Now add:

            1 cup whole-wheat flour

            2 cups white flour

Make sure you've washed your hands, and dredge them with flour. Now take a hold of the dough, and knead it. That means smash it this way and that way, until it's smooth. Form it into a ball and put it on a clean, floured countertop or cutting board.

Take a rolling pin, and roll out the dough little by little until it is only about one-fourth inch thick. Take your favorite cookie cutters and cut out shapes. If you have a bone cookie cutter, that makes an attractive finished product. But your dog will love them no matter how they look!

Carefully, with a spatula, lift each cut-out shape and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake at 250 degrees for 20 minutes.

            Makes 2½ dozen.
